"seriously low priced apartments in an upmarket London area"
Staying in a serviced apartment in London offers you the chance to live like one of the locals in some of the most desirable areas of London, where prohibitive rents mean that few can experience what it is like to live there. West Hampstead is one such area, close to the picturesque, leafy enclave of Hampstead, where literati such as Keats, Sigmund Freud and George Orwell have all lived previously. 291 Suites offers a range of serviced, stylish studio flats in 19th century terraced buildings, typical of the area, where you can enjoy privacy, flexibility and hotel services as needed.
"well appointed given the nightly cost"
The apartments are modern and well appointed, decorated in a calm, neutral colour palette with modern furnishings, fully fitted kitchenettes, power showers in the en-suite bathrooms and free Wi-Fi access for your convenience. The units also come with a handy range of amenities to ensure you have al you need during your stay. These include ironing facilities, complimentary toiletries, heated towel rails, extra towels and linens, a daily maid service as needed, a hairdryer, air conditioning, LCD digital television and a range of hotel services. These include a concierge service, express check out, a reception from 9am - midnight and extra beds if needed.
"good for grocery stores and restaurants being so close to the Finchley Road"
Close to the apartments you will find a Sainsburys and Tesco Express supermarkets, where you can pick up groceries, and if you fancy eating out instead, the local area and nearby Finchley Road have some fantastic restaurants, gastropubs and cafes to choose from. Singapore Garden has been voted 'Best London Oriental’; Eriki offers a vibrant South Asian menu and Del Aziz offers delightful Mediterranean food.
"the transport links in West Hampstead are as good as they get meaning easy travel"
The apartments are in a convenient location from which to see sights. The Camden Arts Centre, Everyman Cinema Club, New End Theatre, Tricycle Theatre and Fenton House are all within 16 minutes walk from the apartments. The Freud Museum, Keats House and Hampstead Heath are all about 20-25 minutes walk away, where you can enjoy picnics, panoramic views of London from Parliament Hill, the impressive art collection of Kenwood House and the unique boutiques, bars and restaurants of Finchley and Hampstead, two very well-heeled areas. About a 35-minute walk or a short bus ride away, you will find Primrose Hill and Regent's Park, London Zoo, Lord's Cricket Ground and Paddington Recreation Ground.
"Shopping on Oxford Street is just a 13 minute tube ride away"
The apartments are located just 10 minutes walk from West Hampstead tube and overground station. From here you can travel to South Hampstead, Hackney or Stratford for the Olympic site, or you can travel into central London on the Jubilee Line. The Jubilee Line passes Bond Street, for upmarket shopping, Baker Street for Madame Tussauds wax museum; Westminster for the Houses of Parliament and Waterloo for the South Bank and overground services to London suburbs.
291 Suites are in a superb location, as West Hampstead has a calm, village-y feel, but is close enough to sights and attractions not to feel too dull. However, the apartments themselves leave a little to be desired and should be considered "basic". Some previous guests have reported maintenance issues and a poor use of space in these rooms. Guests should also be aware that all units are located on upstairs floors, so if you have any mobility issues this may not be the best choice for you. You must bear in mind that these apartments are very cheap in comparison to those closer into the central areas and therefore do represent value for money. Just don't expect the Ritz !
