The Ambassadors Hotel is a low-cost, tourist class accommodation option, located in the peaceful confines of London's Earl's Court district. From its relatively quiet location just off Cromwell Road, the London Underground rail network at Gloucester Road and Earl's Court is just a few minutes walk away, giving quick and easy access to the City, Chelsea Football Club at Stamford Bridge and also London's Heathrow Airport, just half an hour away via the Piccadilly line. Within the hotel's vicinity are the main exhibitions centres of Earl's Court and Olympia, making these centres easily accessible for those on business as exhibitors or visitors, whether you want to sample the delights at the BBC Good Food show, or simply be awestruck by the spectacular Dr. Who Experience.
A short walk takes you to peaceful Kensington Palace and Gardens, whose former residents have included such auspicious names as Queen Victoria and Princess Diana, and Hyde Park, where you can stroll around the Serpentine Gallery, where artists such as Damien Hirst and Andy Warhol have previously featured. If culture is your aim, the neighbouring museums - Natural History, Science and Victoria & Albert - housed in their splendid historic buildings will occupy your attention for more hours than you may think. The history and sights of the Capital are well and truly on your doorstep when staying at the Ambassadors Hotel.
The hotel has recently undergone a major refurbishment and all the rooms offer en-suite facilities, tea and coffee making facilities, a hair dryer, colour TV with satellite and direct dial-telephones. All of the newly re-decorated rooms are bright and airy, offering all modern facilities that a business or leisure traveller would require. wireless Internet is available (for a nominal fee) at the hotel.
The hotel also offers a range of extra facilities to ensure you will have everything you will need during your stay. An on-site porter can assist you with luggage or getting a taxi and a 24-hour reception desk means that you will be well looked after day and night. The hotel also offers a photocopying and fax service.
After a hard day of sight seeing, you can relax in the lounge whilst enjoying snacks and refreshments from the coffee bar. Your choice of a full English or continental breakfast is served in the hotel's pleasantly appointed dining room. The hotel doesn't cater for evening meals, but as you are in London, you will find fantastic restaurants just a few steps outside of the hotel. In the vicinity there are options to suit all tastes and budgets, from chains such as ASK Pasta and Gourmet Burger Kitchen, to more exotic fare at Noor Jahan and The Bombay Brasserie, to very fine dining at 1880 at The Bentley, you will be spoilt for choice.
The Ambassadors Hotel may not be the fanciest option, but as a safe place to leave your luggage and rest your head for the night while you explore this exciting city it is a very good option. Rooms are clean and comfortable; staff are reportedly friendly, although some refurbishment is needed throughout the hotel. The combination of price and location is very good, but make sure to adjust your expectations beforehand. If you choose to stay here, ask for a room on a higher floor at the back of the hotel to avoid any traffic noise and overheated basement rooms. You may wish to use the free Wi-fi connection in the Starbucks Cafe just down the road, as the hotel connection is slow and chargeable.
