At Astons, you can expect an impressive level of service, quality prestigious accommodation, a central location and excellent value for your money. Astons is a charming and elegant haven of three lovingly preserved Victorian townhouses, the interiors of which have recently been sympathetically restored into completely self-catering, quality studio apartments.
The apartments can sleep anything from one to four people, making them perfect for romantic weekends, family stays or a solo business trip, whatever your needs are. The units feature designer furnishings in rich fabrics so you will feel at home amongst the wealthy residents of the area, a maid service, a kitchenette, satellite television, a reception to help with any issues you may have, a private telephone and an entry system for added security. Having a kitchenette will give you added flexibility and privacy, which you won't find in a hotel and will allow you to save money by eating in if you wish as there is a Tesco supermarket just a few minutes' walk away in Gloucester Road. However, you may wish to just use the kitchenette for breakfasts and take advantage of the fabulous restaurants in Kensington in the evenings. Tendido Cero offers stunning Spanish dishes, with tapas and a great wine selection; Star of India offers very tasty Indian food and Bistro K offers French food worthy of a Michelin star, but in a laid back environment.
The location, with its close proximity to a wealth of museums, restaurants and shops, is perfect for strolling up to Kensington Palace and Gardens, where you can pay your respects at the Princess Diana memorial; Hyde Park, where you can watch an outdoor concert, ride a horse and see some cutting edge modern art in the space of an afternoon; the Royal Albert Hall, where you will see outstanding musical performances and the occasional inspiring lecture; and on to neighbouring Knightsbridge, with its outstanding shopping - including Harrods, Harvey Nichols and the Kings Road.
The apartments are also very well placed for transport, with good bus and tube links just a few minutes' walk from the hotel. Gloucester Road tube station is situated nearby, where you can catch the District, Circle and Piccadilly lines. From here you have direct links to Paddington Station (where the Heathrow Express terminates); Victoria Station (where the Gatwick Express terminates); King's Cross, St Pancras Station (where the Eurostar terminus is located); and many more areas of London. If you are driving to the hotel, it can be accessed from the main A4 road, via the M4 and M25; however, guests should note that the hotel is in the congestion charge zone. A reasonable car park choice is the NCP just a few minutes walk away in Warwick Road.
Aston Apartments are great if you want to visit this notoriously expensive area, but you don't want to blow all your money on one night in a hotel. The location of the apartments is superb with major sights just minutes away, but there have been reports that the establishment could do with a little sprucing up to bring it up to standard. This seems to be just a minor annoyance though in an otherwise great accommodation option. To ensure the best stay, choose a unit on a higher floor away from the side street, which can be noisy.
