The Avonmore is a tranquil little hotel at the heart of London, situated on the prime location of a Georgian Crescent overlooking tennis courts and gardens.
The Avonmore, like London, is a mix of old and new, with common spaces and outdoor areas in Georgian and Victorian styles. Its pleasant surroundings and central location, courtesy and comfortable atmosphere will ensure a pleasant stay in this exciting city.
Rooms at the Avonmore range from an En-suite Single to an En-suite Family and are decorated in a clean contemporary style, with patriotic bright blue carpets and comforters. In-room amenities include a hairdryer, complimentary toiletries, tea and coffee making facilities and free Wi-fi Internet access (often a chargeable service in some five-star hotels nearby). The hotel has a charming breakfast room, where guests can enjoy a traditional English fry up or something lighter if preferred.
There is no restaurant in the hotel, but with so many eateries to choose from just a few minutes' away, your can still give your taste buds a treat. Yo Sushi and Carluccio's provide cheap and reliable chain options; Chutneys and Ravi Shankar offer fine Indian cuisine; fine dining can be found at the Blue Door Bistro for a treat; and Giraffe does a fantastic range of healthy brunch options.
Close by are main line underground stations such as Russell Square, King's cross and Euston. King's Cross St Pancras station is particularly well connected for transport in London and internationally, as the hub of the recently revamped Eurostar terminus. The station services the Victoria, Northern and Piccadilly lines, from which you have direct links to Heathrow Airport; Victoria Station (where the Gatwick Express Train terminates); and many other areas of central London. If you are driving to the hotel, it is situated just off the main A4 road, which can be accessed via the M4 and M25; however, guests should note that the hotel is in the congestion charge zone.
In the renowned, picturesque Bloomsbury district of London, the hotel is very close to many attractions and sights, with London's fantastic theatres and the West End within 15 minutes' walking distance. There are many places of interest within a mile of the hotel including the British Museum with over 7 million artifacts to peruse, Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum, Regent's Park and London Zoo, Covent Garden's boutiques and bars, Theatreland and Soho's legendary and colourful nightlife. The new British Library is within a couple of minutes walking distance to the hotel, which occasionally holds informative talks and exhibitions. More esoteric delights in the area include The Crypt Gallery, which showcases art exhibitions in an 19th century, subterranean mausoleum, the Wellcome Collection's medical curiosities and the Renoir cinema for something thought provoking to watch.
The Avonmore may suffer from slightly cramped rooms, but its location and reasonable room rates make it a good accommodation choice for the area. To ensure a good nights sleep, request a room on a high floor as basement rooms are subject to train noise and clatter from the breakfast room.
Guest should be aware that a pre-authorization of your card will be made for the first night's amount in order to validate the card and guarantee your booking when a reservation is made, full payment is made on arrival or departure; the Avonmore is a strictly non-smoking hotel and there is no lift in the establishment, so those with mobility difficulties should request a room on the ground floor.
