Beyond that stands the London Eye observation wheel, which offers magnificent views out over the city from its summit. Westminster Abbey, scene of many Royal weddings, coronations and funerals, stands near the Houses of Parliament. Further down the River Thames, but still within walking distance of Victoria, is Tate Britain, home to a fantastic collection on British Art. Its sister gallery Tate Modern is housed in a grand converted power station at Bankside, opposite St Pauls Cathedral. Gardeners will find the area of Victoria very convenient during the Chelsea Flower Show, which takes place nearby, or for the many flower shows that take place throughout the year at the Royal Horticultural Societys Halls, ten minutes walk away from Victoria Station. Shoppers will enjoy the fashionable boutiques and designer emporiums in neighbouring Chelsea and Kensington, and may take the chance to walk down Kings Road or hunt through the stalls in Portobello Market, made famous in the film Notting Hill.
