Clink261 is an inexpensive backpacker hostel that very close to Kings Cross and St Pancras stations. The Eurostar stops at St Pancras International and you can get a shuttle bus from Luton airport to Kings Cross station. The stations interconnect with the London Underground and serve the following lines: Jubilee, Hammersmith & City, Metropolitan, District and Circle Lines. These stations are in Travelcard Zone 1. The hostel is right on the edge of the London Congestion Zone for cars.
This cosy but lively hostel has a great location, being close to the transport hub of Kings Cross and St Pancras stations and in the middle of Central London’s sightseeing attractions and nightlife. A mile and a half to north lies Camden, with its markets and nightlife. Regent's Park lies 1.3 miles to the west and contains a boating lake, open air theatre and London Zoo. A mile to the south is the British Museum. To the east lie the trendy nightclubs of Angel, Old Street and Farringdon. Near to the hostel is the Camden Centre (0.3 miles), the British Library (0.4 miles), the Charles Dickens Museum and the Foundling Museum (0.5 miles), the Wellcome Institute Museum (0.7 miles) and Sadler’s Wells Theatre (0.9 miles). Oxford Street, Tottenham Court Road, Covent Garden and many other famous streets and London landmarks are also within easy reach for shopping, sightseeing and nightlife. There are plenty of restaurants, cafes, traditional pubs, clubs and entertainment facilities close to the hotel.
Clink261 was formerly Ashlee House, one of London's most well-established independent backpacker youth hostels. It has now been refurbished in a cool, urban style and renamed Clink261.
Rooms at Clink261 are mainly dormitories. The 18-bed dorm room is the hostel’s biggest and cheapest. It has specially-designed pod beds equipped with a bed light and head locker for comfort and privacy. Eight to ten-bed dorm room are mostly used for groups and parties. The four to six-bed dorm room is best for families and small groups of friends. There is also an all-female dormitory. Private rooms are available for those who want privacy. The private rooms can be used as twin, single, double or triple-bed rooms. They have a cupboard and tea and coffee-making facilities.
All the bedrooms have a sink, but clean communal bathrooms are close by on every corridor. Male/female showers and toilets are separate. Other facilities at the hostel include a great fireplace in the lounge, which guests can relax around and exchange travel stories; a TV lounge room with comfortable sofas, a huge plasma TV and a Wii games machine; an internet room; security system and individual lockers in the reception area. The hostel has modern self-catering kitchen that is well equipped with fridges, hubs, cupboards and all the cookery you need to cook. There is also a dining room.
Rates at the hostel include free all-you-can-eat breakfast; free luggage facilities; free sheet, duvet cover and pillowcase (towels are extra for dorm rooms); free London walking tour; lockers and secure, swipe key cards for all bedroom doors and for the main entrance at night.
