Within the heart of London Victoria lies the Corbigoe Hotel. The hotel is nothing special in comparison to other budget hotels of the kind. Possibly one of the only good things about this hotel is that it is located close to many of Londons much loved and much admired institutions in the borough of Westminster.
As this hotel is located just around the corner from Pimlico train station, and Victoria train and underground station with access to the Gatwick Express is close by, the transport links are fantastic and are widely used by many people in central London. Within a mile walking distance guests at the Corbigoe Hotel can find some of the worlds most famous attractions.
Within a 10 minute walk from the hotel guests can find Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, Tower Bridge, and so much more. For those guests who just love to shop, the famous Bond Street and Covent Gardens can be found quite easily when staying at this hotel.
Famous British pubs are scattered around the hotel, and many of Londons many Michelin starred restaurants can be found easily within the Victoria area. For guests that like to relax and enjoy the atmosphere then a trip to the River Thames and the many grassy parks are a definite must.
This typical Victorian townhouse that was recently converted into a hotel has 18 guest rooms that fall into the categories of Single rooms, Double rooms, Twin rooms, Triple rooms, and Quadruple rooms, with each room size having differing price scales.
Each guest has a continental breakfast included in the price. All rooms have an en-suite facility with a shower, toilet, and basin, but the rooms themselves are plainly decorated and only have the expected amenities such as a bed with bedding, a small television, a direct telephone line, and tea and coffee making facilities.
The hotel has no fancy bars or restaurants, but it is worth the price for a budget hotel of this kind. The staff members are always more than happy to help and the reception desk is open 24 hours per day, and the hotel is open every day throughout the year. If guests just want to relax and enjoy their time in the capital then this hotel is ideal for saving a little money along the way.
The site on which the hotel is built in Victoria has an eventful history.
During the middle ages the site had the entrance to a Monastery built upon it. During the fires of London the site was decimated and burnt down to the ground. In the Victorian era the site was used as one of Londons biggest slums for the many thieves and pickpockets, but the slum was destroyed during a regeneration programme.
During the Blitz on London the townhouses narrowly escaped many German bombs. When the current owners bought the building in the 1990s the houses were registered as graded and because of this the Victorian charm still shines through.
A visit to London and the Corbigoe Hotel is ideal for those wanted to get away from everything at very reasonable prices.
