As the hotel name would suggest, the stunning greenery of London's largest green space, Hyde Park is just a short walk away. Whilst you can easily enjoy the park by just going for a stroll or picking up some items from the nearby Tesco Metro for a chilled out picnic, the area is packed with activities for the sporting and culturally minded individual. If you prefer to get your blood pumping, you can rent a tennis court, ride a pedalo or a solar-powered shuttle boat across Serpentine Lake or canter through the trees on a horse from Hyde Park Stables. If you prefer a more laid back way to pass the time, The Serpentine Gallery has a fantastic modern art collection and adds a stunning new Pavilion each year, commissioned from a different artist. To the west of the park lies Kensington Palace and Gardens, where Princess Diana used to live, and where her son and his new wife, the Duke and Duchess now reside in one of the private apartments tucked away in the elaborate, baroque building. For shopaholics, Oxford Street shopping, stretched across a mile and a half street, west of the hotel will provide hours of fun; for kids, Madame Tussaud's waxwork museum and The Planetarium will keep them busy; and for theatre buffs, The Criterion, The Royal Albert Hall and the Canal Cafe Theatre offers drama, comedy, cabaret and musicals.
The hotel is easily accessible from Paddington Station where the London Heathrow Express arrives every 15 minutes. You can also access Victoria Station for the Gatwick Express Train and King's Cross St Pancras for the Eurostar Terminal. Queensway and Bayswater Underground stations are also both a five-minute walk away. If you are driving to the hotel, it can be accessed from the main A4 road, via the M4 and M25; however, guests should note that the hotel is in the congestion charge zone. A reasonable car park choice is the NCP just a few minutes walk away in Queensway.
The Days Inn may be a brand chain, but given this branch's location and stunning exterior, guests can expect a bit more character than your average chain hotel. However, guests can also expect slightly smaller rooms, as the town house conversion means that room layout can be cramped and imaginative. For the largest rooms in the hotel, request a room on the higher floors, but not the top floor as this is the attic and features sloping walls. This may be a minor annoyance, however for such a reasonable price, you will undoubtedly be willing to overlook this and enjoy the many sights conveniently located nearby.
