Search for cheap hotels near Fabric nightclub
If you want superstar DJs, thumping dance music and rooms filled with excitable revellers, Fabric has it all. Fabric has been an institution on London's nightlife scene for years and has been voted number 1 in DJ Magazines "Top 100 Clubs in the World". It's legendary club nights have helped Farringdon to grow from a run down, poverty stricken part of the city, to one of its trendiest locales, where every weekend stylish, young crowds queue outside the door of the renovated, former Metropolitan Cold Stores to dance the night away in the industrial style space.
The club was the brainchild of Keith Reilly, a music obsessive with a vinyl collection numbering over 250,000 records and Cameron Leslie, a New Zealand businessman. It opened its doors in 1999 and although the club isn't quite as trendy as it was in its early years, it is still a very popular destination for London ravers and tourists who are looking for a lively place to spend the night. The premise of the club is to play new and challenging dance music of all varieties, through the best sound system, and so far it has lived up to this ethos. The club has three rooms, each playing a different style of music. Room one also has a unique feature, a 'bodysonic' dance floor, which vibrates due to 400 bass transducers attached to the floor, the perfect place for those who don't want to miss a beat.
Whilst the music at the club is predominantly dance orientated, the club plays different styles to attract a varied crowd. On Friday nights, clubbers can attend FabricLive and listen to electro, dubstep and break beat. Saturday night sees resident DJs Craig Richards and Terry Francis spin some house and techno numbers and on Sunday nights the club hosts a polysexual event with the dubious name WetYourself, where underground house and techno are played. The club has also featured sets by well-known DJs such as Ellen Allien, Ricardo Villalobos and Carl Craig, and occasional live acts take to the stage. The club is dedicated to promoting new talent in London and rising stars from the underground scene, so you might discover a new favourite artist here.
Fabric may not be for everyone, as the combination of flashing lights and vibrating floors might be a bit too disorienting for some, but for those who live for the weekend and can't wait to pull on some day-glo clothing and glowing neon accessories, it's the best place to be. If you want to be within stumbling distance of the club, so you don't have to negotiate a taxi ride in the early hours of the morning, there are plenty of hotels close to the club. Atelier offers very elegant serviced apartments, the perfect quiet place to wind down after a big night. The Zetter Hotel offers reasonable room rates and chic bedrooms, with a trendy bar where you can start the night and Thistle City in the Barbican, just a ten minute walk from the club offers slightly forgettable rooms, but affordable rates.
