Situated at the northern edge of Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park, the hotel is well placed for exploring the delights of West London. In the Royal Parks are the delightful Serpentine lake, Serpentine Gallery, riding stables, memorial to Princess Diana and Kensington Palace. Hyde Park will be hosting the 2012 Olympics Triathlon and Open Water Swimming events. The Royal Albert Hall is a mile away across Kensington Gardens. The magnificent building was built in the 1850s and historians believe Edward VII commissioned it as a private residence for his mistress Lilly Langtry. Paddington mainline railway station is 0.8 miles away and has fast trains to Heathrow Airport as well as trains to Wales and western England. Paddington Underground station is on the Bakerloo, Hammersmith & City, District and Circle lines. Gatwick, London City, Luton and Stansted airports are all within 45 minutes of Central London by train. If you arrive in London on the Eurostar at St Pancras International you can catch the Circle Line. Stations nearby are in Travelcard Zone 1. If you come by car, the area is outside the London Congestion Charge Zone.
