The Hallam Hotel is ideally situated in the heart of central London in the West End and is adjacent to Broadcasting House, home of the BBC, where visitors can take a tour of the TV centre.
The hotel being just north of Oxford Circus, is only a few minutes' walk from both Oxford and Regent Streets; two of London's most famous shopping streets, where you will find designer and high street brands, and Selfridges Department Store for luxury goods. Regents Park, London Zoo, the British Museum and Madame Tussauds wax museum are also within easy reach.
The Hallam hotel is housed in an elegant Victorian style building, in a quiet picturesque street behind Regent Street. The hotel is privately owned and has a total of 25 en-suite bedrooms all of which are comfortably furnished in a simple style and well equipped with a handy range of amenities including a remote-controlled colour TV or flat-screen TV, direct-dial telephone, a radio, hairdryer, complimentary tea and coffee making facilities, central heating, baby cots if needed and a Wi-Fi connection at a surcharge.
The hotel also has a breakfast room and a bar, where a complimentary Full English or continental breakfast is served.
The Wi-Fi connection at the hotel is reportedly unreliable, so you may not wish to pay the surcharge, but there is a Starbucks Cafe very close by where you can get a free Wi-Fi connection and a slightly better quality of breakfast, as some guests have said the one at the hotel is a little uninspired.
The hotel staff are pleasant and available 24-hours a day, and a range of extra facilities are available for guests, including a concierge service to help you plan your stay thoroughly, a business centre and a lift to all floors.
The hotel doesn't cater for evening meals, but London's West End has tasty eateries tucked away in all corners, so you will be sure to find something just a few minutes from the doorstep. Excellent Turkish food can be found at Ozer, Villandry offers elegant French fare and chains such as Pizza Express and La Tasca offer a cheap and cheerful dining experience.
The hotel is extremely well placed for transport, with Oxford Circus tube station just a 10-minute walk away. This station services the Victoria and Bakerloo lines, which provide a direct link to Paddington Station, where you can catch the Heathrow Express Train; Victoria Station, where you can catch the Gatwick Express Train; King's Cross St Pancras Station, where the Eurostar train terminates; and many other areas of central London.
The Hallam Hotel offers very affordable rooms in the heart of the city, making this a great choice for travellers on a budget.
However, guests should be aware that the hotel has some cleanliness and maintenance issues and may be relying somewhat on its fantastic location. If you just need a bed for the night and a place to store your luggage you may be willing to overlook this, choose a room on the lower floors of the hotel, as top floor rooms are rather petite and avoid basement rooms, where the smell from the kitchen is quite strong.
