The Holiday Inn Express London Hammersmith is on busy King Street in the Hammersmith neighbourhood, just a 10-minute walk from the Hammersmith London Underground Station. Hammersmith is a mixed business and residential area. By central London standards, this hotel is a budget option, but despite that it enjoys an excellent location with efficient public transport links to popular tourist destinations throughout the city.
The hotel has an ornate red-brick façade with modern additions built in period style to the rear. It sits just behind a pub, the Plough and Harrow which is at street level. This pub serves food as well as a range of real ales and other drinks.
The northern banks of the River Thames are a 10-minute walk from the hotel. A pedestrian walkway skirts the river, with a number of inviting pubs along the way. Try the Black Lion which is set just back from the river and has a large beer garden. The pub serves traditionally brewed English ales and a bar menu.
If you’re looking for some green space, walk five minutes west along King Street and you’ll come to the entrance of Ravenscourt Park’s 13 hectares. The park has a children’s play area with a paddling pool open in the summer, a sandpit and a variety of play equipment. Other features include grassed open spaces, formal gardens, a lake and a café.
Since the hotel serves only breakfast, you’ll be on the lookout for nearby dining options and fortunately this area has a wealth of restaurants offering cuisines from around the world. Thai City is just a few steps from the hotel, Sagar, a vegetarian South Indian restaurant, is just over the road, and Mahdi, a few doors away, serves Iranian food.
