Search for cheap hotels near Kensington National Urban Golf
If you've always rather fancied donning a nifty argyle knit and yelling things like 'Fore!' and Birdy!’ whilst venting your frustration on little balls, but you live in the city and don't have a double -barreled surname; Urban Golf could be just what you're looking for.
Eschewing the traditional stuffy reputation and deconsecrating traditional golf club rules as laid down by 'Retired-Brigadier-on-Severn', Urban Golf is an all-inclusive reworking of a rather stuffy game, for a new generation who want to down a few cocktails and wear jeans whilst hitting the green. Whether you are an expert who wants to top up their game during their lunch break with over 60 championship courses to choose from; a beginner who simply wants an alternative to bowling; or you are looking for a lively, entertaining party venue for up to 300 people, London's new craze will satisfy your needs.
Urban Golf players may find it confusing at first, walking up converted town house stairs to play golf, but you soon realise that this is golf to suit an inner city lifestyle. Games are played on high-definition simulators, or mini, Astroturf putting greens. The club also includes a coaching suite for those who want to improve their game in comfort and style; a clubhouse designed by architects Squire and Partners, with a quirky, eclectic decor; and an achingly hip cocktail bar, which also serves a range of snacks and light meals. So if you find your sore loser side emerging, you can rouse your spirits with a drink in a large Oxford armchair.
The club emphasises fairness and inclusivity; however, it wouldn't be a game if there weren’t some competition. If you come to Urban Golf and find you have a taste for teeing-off, the club also organises tournaments and competitions to win trips to golf resorts, so you can exercise your winning streak. Or if that all sounds a bit tiresome, the clubhouse is a great venue to watch golf games on large high-definition TVs.
Kensington National Urban Golf couldn't be better placed for transport, located right inside the High Street Kensington tube station shopping arcade. The tube station services the District and Circle lines, from which you have a direct link to Victoria Station (where the Gatwick Express Train terminates); Paddington Station (where the Heathrow Express Train terminates); and many other areas of central London. So if you are travelling in or out of London, you can reach the clubhouse with ease.
Kensington High Street is a fantastic area to stay in, with many attractions such as Kensington Palace and Gardens close by, It is an affluent area, but there are some reasonable accommodation options, including the Copthorne Tara Hotel just a few minutes from the tube station, which offers four-star comfort and service in opulent surroundings. The Kensington Close Hotel is also just a few minutes from the tube station and offers guests a great range of facilities in smart, contemporary surroundings. If you want something a bit more traditional, Kensington House Hotel is in a quiet area, in a stunning 19th century building with light, elegant rooms. So even if you have to watch your budget, you can exert yourself on the pitch, relax with a cocktail, then head back to a cosy bed.
