Search for cheap hotels near Kew
Located south of the River Thames in Surrey, Kew is one of the beautiful and wealthy areas to live in the capital. It is also close to Richmond, Hampton Wick and Twickenham which all lie on the edge of the city borders. There are extensive travel connections which includes tube lines that go direct to Westminster from Kew, Richmond and Gunnersbury. These are served by the District lines. In addition to this there are numerous South West Trains services that can be accessed from London's Waterloo station which stop at Kew. The journey only takes around half an hour with. You will be able to reach several other areas in the South including Hampton Wick and Hampton Court stations. If that’s not enough, the London Overground line from Stratford terminates at Richmond which also stops at Kew Gardens. Driving is also easy thanks to the easy road links. Kew is based only a few miles away from Heathrow Airport and is accessible from the M3 and M4 motorways. Bus services can take you back from Clapham Junction, Hammersmith as well as a night bus from Kings Cross St. Pancras.
There are plenty of historic houses to visit in nearby Richmond from Ham and Strawberry Hill House to Hampton Court Palace. Formerly home to the great English rulers including Henry VII, you will be able to explore a host of attractions once inside such as the magnificent 60 acre gardens, the iconic maze, the Tudor kitchens, the Chapel Royal and Mantegna's Triumphs of Caesar canvases.
Of course Kew is not Kew without the famous gardens. A place of interest for millions of people each and every year, the stunning Kew Gardens houses key element that carefully portray defining moments in history between the 18th and 20th Centuries.
There is also an incredible plant collection in the botanical gardens. Originally created in the middle of the 18th Century, they have continued to make a significant contribution to the studies into botany and plant diversity. Spanning a whopping 300 acres of land, they consist of numerous glasshouse developments. The most famous one is the Palm House which opened in 1848.
There are plenty of pubs and bars which dot the riverside close to Richmond Bridge if you need to quench your thirst. Meanwhile in Kew itself there are a wide collection of shops, bars and restaurants to choose from. Kew Green is another pretty area with plenty of lush open green spaces to enjoy and offers quaint places to eat and drink close by.
