The Best Western Maitrise Suites Apartment Hotel is set on Ealing Broadway, a busy shopping street in the London Borough of Ealing in west London, about seven miles from the centre of the capital. Despite this distance, you can reach central London in as little as 20 minutes by public transport.
The Maitrise Suites are set in an Edwardian building with a street level entrance. The property is part of a terrace of shops with residential property above. This non-smoking hotel has three floors (there is a lift), and guest facilities include a lounge bar. Parking is available just behind the hotel for a fee.
If you tire of cooking your own meals, there’s an excellent selection of restaurants within easy walking distance, offering many of the world’s most popular cuisines. Turn left out of the hotel entrance on Ealing Broadway. After two or three minutes’ walk the road changes its name to Uxbridge Road and there are a clutch of restaurants to choose from in the next five minutes.
Gospoda Vita (146 Uxbridge Road) is a traditional Polish restaurant decorated with wooden panelling and folk art and serving dishes such as herrings in cream dressing, homemade veal schnitzel and beef goulash with dumplings. Mehregan (136 Uxbridge Road) serves Middlee Eastern cuisine including specialities like minced lamb cooked on skewers over the charcoal grill, Kashk e Badenjan, a dish made with aubergine, buttermilk, walnuts, garlic and mint, and Baamish, a lamb stew with okra and tomatoes. Haweli (127 Uxbridge Road) serves Indian food.
The Maitrise Suites are a 10-minute walk from Walpole Park which has 28 acres of grassland, mature trees, formal gardens and two ponds, one dating back to Victorian times and set in charming sunken gardens. The park has a children’s play area and each year hosts the Ealing Summer Festival which includes live jazz and blues. Pitzhanger Manor, an outstanding example of early 19th century architecture, is the centrepiece of the park. Visitors can tour the house and visit the art gallery that it now hosts.
The hotel has 17 guestrooms including studios that can accommodate up to two adults and two children, and one-bedroom suites suitable for two adults and two children or four adults. All come with fully equipped kitchens including washing machines, flatscreen TVs, free wifi and iPod docking stations. Other amenities include safes, irons and ironing boards, hair dryers and direct dial phones with voicemail. Rooms also have CD players and home cinema systems.
If you’re looking for something special, book one of the Presidential Suites. These have roof terraces with a hot tub and other extra amenities such as bathrobes and slippers and a complimentary bottle of Champagne and a box of chocolates on arrival.

West Ealing Station is a five-minute walk from the hotel. Every hour, two trains depart from there for Paddington Station in central London, with a journey time of about 15 minutes. Paddington is a national railway station that also offers London Underground connections to all of the capital’s best known tourist destinations. West Ealing Station is closed on Sundays.
About a 20-minute walk from the hotel, Ealing Broadway is on London Underground’s District and Central lines. Take the Central Line to reach Oxford Circus in about 25 minutes or St Paul’s Cathedral in just over 30 minutes. On the District Line, you can reach Westminster, home to the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben, in 35 minutes and Tower Hill, next to the Tower of London, in 45 minutes.
