Formerly the Quality Crown Hotel, the Mercure Paddington is a sleek, central London hotel conveniently located seconds from Paddington Station and the 15-minute Heathrow Express connection. Exceptional accommodation throughout the hotel, state-of-the-art facilities and stylish interiors, make this the perfect base for the business or leisure traveller.

The Mercure's rooms range from Standard to Executive and contain a very high standard of fittings, with contemporary furnishings in a tasteful, muted colour scheme and luxurious fabrics to facilitate a very comfortable night's sleep. All the needs of the modern traveller have been considered in the selection of amenities available and all rooms feature air-conditioning, wired and wireless high speed Internet, large flat screen TV's with on-demand movies and CD's, iPod docks, bathrobes, tea and coffee making facilities, sound-proofed glazing and power showers. All Executive rooms additionally offer complimentary soft drinks from the in-room mini bar.

The hotel's Garfunkel's Restaurant is open from early till late and serves a tasty menu of British favourites and international delicacies. The Gallery Lounge and Bar is the perfect place for jet lagged guests to relax and soak up some local colour with sports on a 42 inch plasma TV and a fantastic selection of wines, beers and spirits. The hotel also boasts a Fitness Centre, atrium-style Executive Lounge and Conference Rooms for up to 12 delegates. If needed, the hotel's dedicated concierge service will help you to make the most of your trip and help you to navigate the many sights and attractions nearby.

The hotel's location couldn't be better for exploring this picturesque and historic part of London. To the east of the hotel lies Regent's Park, where you can enjoy open air theatre in the summer months or visit London Zoo; Madame Tussaud's waxwork museum, where you can visit the uncanny look-alikes of your favourite celebrities; The Planetarium where you can traverse the universe with the famed 'star dome'; and Oxford Street's one and a half mile's worth of shops, including Selfridges Department Store, where you can pick up some fantastic souvenirs. To the south lies Hyde Park and Kensington Palace and Gardens, a very historic green space where you can visit the former home of Queen Victoria and Princess Diana or take a stroll through the landscaped gardens to visit the Diana Memorial where you can pay your respects to the remarkable woman. In Hyde Park, you can visit The Serpentine Gallery, ride a horse through the lush landscape or pump up the adrenaline with an exhilarating solar-powered shuttle boat ride across The Serpentine Lake.

The hotel is easily accessible from Paddington Station where the London Heathrow Express arrives every 15 minutes. You can also access Victoria Station for the Gatwick Express Train and King's Cross St Pancras for the Eurostar Terminal. Queensway and Bayswater Underground stations are also both a five-minute walk away. If you are driving to the hotel, it can be accessed from the main A4 road, via the M4 and M25; however, guests should note that the hotel is in the congestion charge zone. A reasonable car park choice is the NCP just a few minutes walk away in Queensway.

If you want a reliable, comfortable base in a quiet, attractive part of London with great transport links then the Mercure is the perfect choice. The hotel offers great value for money and has friendly service, tasty breakfasts and stylish rooms to boot. If you are visiting on a romantic break or are celebrating a special occasion, you may find the hotel decor a little bland, but otherwise, this is a great accommodation option for business and leisure travellers alike. For the best stay, choose a room on a higher floor to avoid traffic noise and get better views of the surrounding area.
