A three-star hotel in an attractive suburb of the city, the My Place Hotel was built in 1900 and has the elegant styling of a Victorian townhouse with all the amenities that the modern traveller has come to expect. It is literally just up the road from Earls Court tube station making it an ideal choice for anyone with heavy bags arriving on the tube from Heathrow.
Earls court is a lively and bohemian part of Kensington and Chelsea. Earls Court Road is home to many bars and restaurants, and the fact that Earls Court has played host to successive waves of immigration has left it with a more diverse and interesting atmosphere than the refined but exclusive luxury of much of the borough. There are attractions both big and small in Earls Court, from the Earls Court Exhibition Centre, where they put on Crufts and the Royal Tournament, to the local landmark The Troubador, a coffee shop and music venue where such greats as Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, and Elvis Costello have played. Earls Court tube station (the nearest, just a few steps away, really) is very handy both for Heathrow, and for getting into the West End, as there are trains straight to Leicester Square.
The My Place Hotel houses 50 rooms over six floors, and there is a lift between all of the floors to assist with moving luggage. The hotel has a bar and lounge, it also has a restaurant, but that currently is only used for serving breakfast and is not open at other times of the day. There is a 24-hour reception desk and 24-hour room service, as well as a walled garden. The hotel even has its own nightclub. Tea and coffee are available in the hotel lounge, and a complimentary breakfast is included in the room price. Wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel. Check in is at 14:00, and check out is at 11:00, all public areas inside the hotel are non-smoking, but there are smoking areas on the grounds. Cancellations will incur a fee if they are not made at least 48 hours in advance of the booking.
Earls Court offer access to almost anything you could want from Wimbledon within a short tube ride. You are a stop or two away from the shops of Knightsbridge or the museums and concert halls of South Kensington. The West End is just a short, direct trip on the Piccadilly Line away. Earls Court tube also has the District Line, so you can get out of town to Wimbledon or Richmond, or you can stop along the river, or pop along to Tower Bridge.
Some guests have found the breakfast not to be up to their expectations, and the traveller should be aware that the rooms are small, and not all have been refurbished recently. There have been reports of tired, stained carpets and of a lack of cleanliness. In all, My Place Hotel offers a budget option to the traveller who is willing to live a little rough and ready, and wants a convenient location from which to get into and out of London.
