The Pestana has a stunning spa complex, with a tranquil, heated pool complex, which is a rarity in London hotels, and sauna and massage rooms. The hotel also includes a state of the art gym and the Atlantico Restaurant and Lounge, which serve traditional Portuguese dishes with a modern twist. The restaurant also serves a breakfast buffet with a fantastic selection, including meats and cheeses and even Portuguese pastries. In the hotel bar you can enjoy the quintessentially British tradition of afternoon tea and sample a few of the hotel's colourful cocktails before heading out for the night.
The Pestana is also in a superb location from which to explore this wealthy and picturesque quarter of the city. Battersea Park is great for picnics, rowing, jogging and quiet stroll through the trees. Here you will find the Battersea Park Children's Zoo, home to otters, monkeys, flamingoes and many other creatures you won't usually find in London. The park also hosts a fun fair in the summer months. If you want to get a different view of the city, you can take a riverboat cruise down the Thames, and for those who want something a little higher octane, a speedboat tour will up the adrenalin rush. Battersea Power Station might look melancholic, but occasionally concerts and events are held here, so it's advised to check what's on before you arrive.
The hotel is located just across the bridge from the exquisite Chelsea area of London, where you will find exclusive shops along the King's Road, Sloane Square, The Saatchi Gallery for challenging contemporary art exhibitions and the Royal Hospital Chelsea, which hosts the annual Chelsea Flower Show, an important date in anyone's social calendar. From Chelsea you are just ten minutes from South Kensington, where you will find the Victoria & Albert, Science and Natural History museums; The Royal Albert Hall and the Prince Albert memorial, as well as some stunning architecture evoking the Victorian era of London. Harrods department store is nearby as well, for some very up market shopping.
The Pestana is admittedly a pricier accommodation choice in London, but for your money you get a very glamorous experience and a fantastic location. Requesting a room with a view is definitely recommended, although you may want to specify if you want to look out on Tower Bridge or Battersea Power Station as some may find the latter a tad gloomy. A good tip is to avoid having breakfast in your room, as the buffet offers plenty of choice and you can have much larger portions.
