Occupying a terrace of five converted Victorian townhouses, The Premier West Hotel is a bargain basement option in West London offering basic accommodation. The property has three storeys and is in the style characteristic of late-19th century London residential building. The hotel overlooks busy Glenthorne Road, and to the rear is a network of quiet, leafy streets.
Despite its modest room rates, this hotel enjoys a good location if you’re visiting London, with fast and efficient public transport connections to all the main tourist attractions.
The Premier West Hotel has two good pubs nearby. The Dartmouth Castle is a traditional Victorian pub just across the road from the hotel. This pub offers an excellent wine list with vintages from France, Italy and Spain, as well as the New World. It also serves a range of traditionally brewed English ales such as Sharp’s Cornish Coaster, Sambrooks Wandle and Adnams Lighthouse. The pub serves a Mediterranean menu with dishes like grilled Tuscan sausages, salmon and dill fishcakes and braised lamb shank.
Just around the corner from the Premier West on Cambridge Grove, the Stonemasons Arms is another Victorian pub. This one has which wooden floors and fashionably mismatched antique furniture and its selection of real ales includes London Pride and Honey Dew, both brewed in nearby Chiswick. The menu features modern English dishes like Duke of Berkshire pork belly, roast saddle of hare, and wild boar and apple sausages.
Nearby attractions include the River Thames, a 10-minute walk away. Head for Hammersmith Bridge and cross it to the south bank of the Thames. Turn right and you’ll find a well-maintained riverside path that will lead you round a sweeping bend in the river to Barnes Bridge where you can recross the river. Walk along the north bank back to the hotel. This scenic walk will take you around 90 minutes and show you a side of London that many tourists miss.
It’s also easy to get to more mainstream tourist attractions from the Premier West because of the excellent connections from Hammersmith Station. If you want to do some upmarket shopping, take the Piccadilly line westwards from Hammersmith Station to Knightsbridge, a journey of a little more than 10 minutes. There, you’re just a couple of minutes’ walk from the world-famous Harrods department store. Also close by is Hyde Park, central London’s 142-hectare green oasis. The park includes formal gardens, wooded areas, rolling lawns, and the Serpentine, a lake where you can go boating, and even swimming in the summer. The park also has a variety of attractions aimed at children such as the Lady Diana Memorial Playground. Just near that is Kensington Palace, where Princess Diana lived.

The Premier West is a five minute walk from London Underground’s Hammersmith Station which is on the Hammersmith and City, the District, and the Piccadilly Lines. From there, you can travel to all of London’s top tourist destinations. Take the District Line to Victoria Station, a journey of 15 minutes. Buckingham Palace is a five-minute walk away as are Green Park and St James’s Park. The Piccadilly Line heading east will take you to Piccadilly Circus in a little over 15 minutes. On the Hammersmith and City Line, you can travel to Ladbroke Grove Station, which as a few minutes walk from Portobello Road Market.
For a direct connection from Hammersmith to Heathrow Airport take the Piccadilly Line westwards. This will get you to Heathrow in around 50 minutes.
