Located in Surrey, Richmond is considered to be one of the most affluent places in the country to live. It is an extremely leafy area with wealthy suburbs and has access to a number of different transport links. You will have the opportunity to connect directly to Waterloo thanks to direct trains which take less than 20 minutes. In addition, you will be able to reach several areas around Richmond including Kew, Barnes, Sheen, Mortlake and many more.
There is also the Overground service which goes from Richmond to Stratford and as far North as Watford. It is located in Zone 4 of the Underground system and is served by the District line which can take you directly into Kensington, Earls Court and Westminster.
There is plenty to see and do in the area. Major highlights include Richmond Bridge. Constructed in the 18th Century, this famous landmark is made entirely from stone. Designed by James Paine and Kenton Couse, the bridge crosses the UK’s most famous river, the Thames. Richmond Bridge is also an official Grade I listed monument.
Richmond Hill situated at the top of the borough of Richmond Upon Thames has been the place for many a famous painting. With rolling views of neighbouring Twickenham as well as the River Thames, it is the scene of many weddings and special occasions.
Richmond Park is another venue which is a must see on anyone’s list. You can enjoy nearly 2,400 hectares of land whilst having the opportunity to see a wide variety of wildlife including the infamous red deer which roam and total around 600 at present. In addition to this, it is actually one of the Royal Parks which was created back in the 17th Century by Charles I.
Richmond Park is the biggest park in the capital. Famous houses inside the park include Pembroke Lodge which was the former home of the 1st Earl Russell and now houses impressive gardens. On the other hand White Lodge is currently home to young ballet students who continue to practice.
Other animals you may be able to spot at Richmond Park include rabbits, snakes, frogs, toads and a host of other insects. Sporting activities you can participate in feature horse riding, cycling and power kiting whilst the stunning Isabella Plantation can be enjoyed by all.
You can even see as far as St. Pauls Cathedral on a good day! Other places of note include Hampton Court Palace, the historic Ham House and the popular nature reserve called London Wetland Centre.
There is a broad mix of restaurants from middle of the road chains to stand out individual venue as well as two incredible Michelin Star restaurants.
One is housed in the famous Bingham Hotel on the banks of the Thames whereas the Petersham Nurseries featured huge input from Skye Gygnell.
On the other hand, the Petersham Hotel is another stunning 4 star hotel based just down from Richmond Hill. With stunning views and excellent cuisine this has been a long standing favourite in the area among guests.
