Search for cheap hotels near Ruislip
Situated within the borough of Hillingdon, Ruislip is one town which also includes adjacent areas of Eastcote, Northwood, Ruislip Manor and South Ruislip. When it comes to transport links in the area, Ruislip is served well thanks to five London Underground stations. Ruislip and Ruislip Manor are served by the Metropolitan and Piccadilly lines. They both lie in Zone 6 of the Underground system while Ruislip Gardens, South Ruislip and West Ruislip are all served by the Central line. From here you will be able to connect to the centre of the capital in less than 40 minutes.
There are a number of major landmarks in the area which feature Ruislip Lido. This was once a former reservoir but has been completely transformed into an area of public parkland. Dating back to the Victorian period, Ruislip Lido has an artificial sand beach which is surrounded by woodlands through which you can catch a mini train.
This is courtesy of the Ruislip Lido Railway, a small gauge railway which only measures 12 inches. The Lido was set up in the first instance as a reservoir in order to feed the Grand Union Canal via damming. In addition to this, Ruislip Lido includes its own miniature railway and Manor Farm.
This was formerly a settlement which dates back to the 9th Century and is considered to be an important heritage site in the area. Positioned close to Ruislip High Street this land measures around 22 acres in size and also features the Great Barn which has its roots in the 13th Century. It was actually a working farm up to the end of the 1930’s.
The centre provides plenty of chances to shop drink and dine which are official Grade II listed buildings. You can have the opportunity to explore Alexandra Park which is close by. Enjoy stunning views over London where you will be able to take advantage of a weekly market which offers a wide collection of stalls.
Alexandra Palace is within close vicinity of the park and provides two large venues where a host of events take place throughout the year. This includes rock concerts not to mention major sporting occasions. During the winter, months you can be entranced by the metamorphosis of Ally Pally into a large ice rink.
It was actually the site of the first broadcast by the British Broadcast Corporation back in 1936.
There are a variety of shops, bars and restaurants to choose in the area with a very much eclectic cuisine available. Hotels nearby include the Crescent Hotel and the Bridge Hotel Greenford. This 3 star venue features a traditional restaurant which serves up classic dishes and is just 10 minutes by car to the iconic Wembley Stadium.
