The Sanctum Soho Hotel is a stunning haven of chic, contemporary style in London's West End, close to the Marylebone district of London, home to The Wallace Collection, Madame Tussaud's waxwork museum and the Sherlock Holmes Museum. The hotel occupies two ornate Georgian buildings, however beyond the traditional facade, the hotel reflects the fashionable cosmopolitan nature of the city, with interior design by Lesley Purcell and an ever changing selection of artworks by artist Xavier Pick.
Rooms at the Sanctum Soho Hotel are available from Crash Pads to a range of ultra luxurious suites. Rooms offer an attractive and eclectic mix of textures and styles, with rich veneers, art deco mirrored columns, and glass beaded wallpapers and a Rococo colour scheme. Rooms skillfully mix traditional and modern styles to create a cocoon of comfort and style for all guests. Rooms also come with an imaginative selection of amenities, including iPod docking stations, REN toiletries, state of the art entertainment system, with a large LCD TV with Sky channels and movies, complimentary Wi-Fi access and Nintendo Wiis and Guitar Hero in Suite rooms.
The hotel also has a stunning range of facilities for guests to enjoy, including an underground cinema, rooftop garden with a 24-hour bar, a hydro spa, a state of the art gym and a concierge service, who can arrange everything from airport transfers to a personal, in-room mixologist for a special night in. The hotel also includes the No.20 Restaurant, a trendy place to enjoy a seasonal menu of British favourites. Here you can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner; however some guests have found the breakfast a little expensive for the selection you are offered, so it is recommended to try the nearby cafes, such as The Breakfast Club, which is very popular with locals and Flat White, which offers a very impressive cup of coffee and brunch menu.
The hotel is in a fantastic location for exploring London's sights, shops and landmarks. A five-minute walk to the north of the hotel is Regent's Park, which contains a golfing green, boating lake, open-air theatre and London Zoo. Fifteen minutes south of the hotel lies Oxford Circus, where Regent Street and Oxford Street, two of London's most popular shopping thoroughfares, collide. London's Theatreland district, Piccadilly Circus, the shops of Mayfair, including Savile Row tailors and Fortnum and Mason food emporium are all within walking distance, and much more. North of the hotel you will find Primrose Hill and the markets and live music venues of Camden Town.
The hotel has excellent transport links for those arriving from outside and within the UK. Oxford Circus tube station is just a 10-minute walk away. This station services the Victoria and Bakerloo lines, which provide a direct link to Paddington Station, where you can catch the Heathrow Express Train; Victoria Station, where you can catch the Gatwick Express Train; King's Cross St Pancras Station, where the Eurostar train terminates; and many other areas of central London.
The Sanctum Soho Hotel offers a unique accommodation experience in an excellent London location, with many sights and attractions within walking distance. The hotel also has some of the most intriguing facilities in the city, the underground cinema being a particular plus, however some guests have reported that the hotel has been let down by poor organisation at times, with the excellent, 24-hour rooftop bar found unmanned at times and noisy parties going on until the early hours of the morning. If staying here, to ensure that you have the best stay, request a room away from the bar and restaurant areas, which can be noisy, and rooms away from the street, also tend to be quieter.
