Guest rooms come with an extensive range of up to the minute amenities to suit the business and leisure traveller alike. These include a digital safe, complimentary Wi-Fi access, a flat-screen LCD TV with a DVD player, 24-hour room service, tea and coffee making facilities, rain showers, ironing facilities, an iPod docking station and welcome extras such as hypoallergenic pillows and a high-powered hair dryer.
The hotel room rate includes a filling continental breakfast with a good selection and staff are very friendly and attentive, allowing guests to have their own wine in room and providing glasses if needed, helping guests with their luggage and acting as a concierge by booking tickets for guests to shows in the nearby Theatreland district. The hotel also has a dedicated lounge and bar, which is as stylish as the rooms and serves a wide range of drinks and dry cleaning, luggage storage and an airport pick up are also available if required.
The hotel doesn't have a restaurant for evening meals, but this needn't be a problem as the many fantastic eateries of Kensington are mere seconds away. Whether you just want to pick up some snacks in the stunning Whole Foods supermarket on the High Street, enjoy up market sushi at Yashin, grab some traditional British grub at Maggie Jones's, or enjoy a stunning European meal at Whit's, you will be spoilt for choice.
This extends to the range of activities in the area as well. Aside from the fact that Kensington is a lovely area to enjoy a stroll in nice weather, you are close to some of London's best museums. On Exhibition Road you will find the Victoria & Albert, Science and Natural History Museums, each of which will keep you occupied for hours. The Royal Albert Hall is close by, where you can enjoy a musical extravaganza and treat yourself to an opera box. Hyde Park is packed with activities for rain or shine, including The Serpentine Gallery, horse rides, solar-powered shuttle rides, tennis courts and historic sites such as Rotten Row. Kensington Palace and Gardens lies at the opposite end of the park, where you can tour Princess Diana's former residence and tuck in to an indulgent afternoon tea, the perfect break from a day of exploring.
The hotel is also very well placed for transport, with good bus and tube links just a few minutes' walk from the hotel. High Street Kensington tube station is situated nearby on Kensington High Street, where you can catch the District and Circle lines. From here you have direct links to Paddington Station (where the Heathrow Express terminates); Victoria Station (where the Gatwick Express terminates); King's Cross, St Pancras Station (where the Eurostar terminus is located); and many more areas of London. If you are driving to the hotel, it can be accessed from the main A4 road, via the M4 and M25; however, guests should note that the hotel is in the congestion charge zone. The hotel has a helpful, free 'Car Parking Package' so you will have somewhere safe to keep your vehicle.
This is a great boutique hotel to consider for your stay, cheerful and friendly with great amenities, you will be pleasantly surprised and made to feel at home. Guests should be aware that like most London town house conversions, rooms can be petite, but in this case they are also perfectly formed. Choose a room away from the high street and you're snoozing won't be interrupted by traffic.
