If you are in London on a budget backpacking holiday, you need to find somewhere inexpensive to stay that is close to transport links. Smart Hyde Park Inn is a hostel that is a few minutes’ walk from Queensway Underground station, serving the Central Line, and 0.3 miles from Bayswater Underground station, which is on the District and Circle Lines. Paddington is the nearest mainline railway, 0.9 miles away. It has frequent, fast trains to Heathrow Airport as well as being on the following Underground Lines: Circle, District, Hammersmith & City, Bakerloo. If you arrive in London on the Eurostar at St Pancras International you can also connect with the Circle Line. Gatwick Airport, London City Airport, Luton Airport and Stansted Airport are within 45 minutes of Central London by train. Stations in the area are in Travelcard Zone 1. Several buses stop nearby with routes into Central London, including buses that run throughout the night. The A40, M25, M4 and M4 are easy to drive to from the hotel. The area is outside the London Congestion Charge Zone.

Smart Hyde Park Inn is well located in the heart of West London for sightseeing. The hostel is 0.1 miles from Kensington Gardens, which forms a large green space with Hyde Park. The Serpentine lake and art gallery, in Hyde Park, are a short walk from the hostel. In the summer you can spend a pleasant day walking through the park to the Princess Diana Memorial, Kensington Palace, Green Park and Buckingham Palace (2.4 miles from the hotel). Hyde Park will host the Triathlon and Open Water Swimming events for the 2012 Olympics. Queensway, a busy cosmopolitan street famous for its many restaurants offering food from all over the world, is just around the corner. Queensway is also home to multi-storey Whiteleys Shopping Centre (0.2 miles from the hotel), with a cinema and a bowling alley as well as a huge variety of shops. Portobello Road, famous for antiques, is 0.6 miles from the hotel. Other nearby places of interest include the Gate Theatre (0.6 miles from the hotel), St Mary’s Campus at Imperial College and the Alexander Fleming Museum (0.9 miles). Trendy Notting Hill, which hosts the Notting Hill Carnival every summer, is about half a mile from the hotel. Oxford Street, with its famous shops, is a short bus or tube journey away and it is easy to get into the West End for theatres, sightseeing and nightlife by public transport. There are also plenty of shops, cafes, pubs, clubs and a cinema in the streets around the hostel.
Smart Hyde Park Hostel offers cheap dormitory accommodation with 274 dorm beds and also six private rooms. The rooms are designed with the backpacker in mind. The beds are comfortable and have curtains and panels to ensure privacy. The rooms lock with electronic key cards and there are lockers and safes in the rooms using the same locking system. There are also safes at reception and the desk is staffed 24 hours each day. All the rooms are cleaned daily and maintenance checks performed weekly.
