The St Mark Hotel in Earls Court has benefited much from a recent refurbishment, with clean modern rooms and a welcoming entrance hallway. Situated in an elegant town house, it is close to Earls Court and Olympia Exhibition centres, so is perfect for anyone visiting to attend or exhibit in a show such as The Ideal Home Show or the London International Horse Show. The hotel also offers very affordable rates for the area, which enjoys a vibrant multi-cultural, bohemian feel amongst elegant Victorian architecture and peaceful garden squares.

Rooms at the hotel range from Single to Family size, catering to a range of guests, whether visiting for business or leisure purposes. Rooms are tastefully decorated, with modern en-suite bathrooms and comfortable beds with warm colour accents. In-room amenities are very good for a low-cost hotel, including a flat screen TV; a fully equipped kitchenette with toaster, fridge and microwave; a trouser press; ironing facilities; complimentary toiletries; extra towels; cots if needed; safety deposit boxes; hairdryers and wireless Internet access. With Sainsbury’s and M&S Simply Food supermarkets nearby, the kitchenette will definitely come in handy, although there is a wide selection of eateries nearby, from chains such as Nandos and Pizza Express to upmarket fare at Balans and a range of international cuisines, due to the ethnic diversity in the local community. A small continental breakfast is offered with the room rate, but guests have not been too impressed, so it is advised to try one of the many cafes nearby.

The hotel also has multi-lingual staff, a lounge and a luggage room facility if you want to explore after check out. This may be a definite plus, as there is much to see and do in the surrounding area. Aside from the exhibition centres, Earls Court is home to The Troubadour Cafe, a former drinking haunt of Oliver Reed where you can watch live music and The Finborough Theatre, where you can see plays by up and coming playwrights. In nearby Shepherds Bush, you will find a varied fruit and vegetable market and the O2 Shepherd's Bush Academy, a well-known venue for established and fledgling bands.

In nearby South Kensington, just a 15 minute stroll away, you will find the Victoria & Albert, Science and Natural History Museums; The Royal Albert Hall; Kensington Palace and Gardens; Hyde Park and The Serpentine Gallery; Harrods and Harvey Nichols Department Stores and some exclusive shops and restaurants amongst the elegant Victorian buildings.

Transport links form the St Mark Hotel are good, with Earls Court tube station just a few minutes walk away, from which you can travel on the District and Piccadilly lines. The District line will take you to Paddington Station for the Heathrow Express train, or you can access Heathrow directly via the Piccadilly line. You also have a direct link to King's Cross St Pancras Station where the Eurostar terminus is located.

This is a very pleasant low-cost hotel, with a good range of amenities and very affordable rates for such a great location, so this is a very good option for those travelling on a budget. Some guests have experienced problems with broken facilities in the room on arrival, or TVs which only have Arabic language channels, so some attention to detail is needed, but if you are looking for a place to drop your luggage and rest at night, overall, St Mark is a good hotel for the area.
