Hotel Verta is an exclusive 5-star hotel located on the south side of the River Thames at London's Vertical Gateway: The London Heliport, Battersea. Hotel Verta is described as 'the first integrated hotel heliport solution in Europe', which makes it very convenient for those arriving by helicopter; however, even if you aren't so flush, you can still enjoy a very luxurious hotel in a unique location. The hotel’s design, inspired by the Halcyon days of aviation, combines timeless elegance with modernity. The hotel lobby is a striking double height atrium with a signature, sweeping staircase up to the mezzanine level, so you will experience VIP treatment as soon as you walk in the door.
The hotel comprises of a fantastic selection of rooms, from City View to River View to a range of stylish suites with infinity baths, which also overlook the Thames. All of the 70 bedrooms and 4 suites, are furnished in a classically modern style, each with original artwork and the finest bespoke fittings. The rooms are colourful and full of character and echo the cosmopolitan elegance of the city. All rooms come complete with a full range of amenities, including Nespresso coffee makers, LCD TVs in the bedroom and bathroom, complimentary toiletries and much more. The Internet is available through the TV, which has been set up as a media station.
All staff at the hotel have been praised for their friendly, welcoming service, and the hotel also comprises of a fabulous two-level, subterranean spa, with a heated pool and Hydro pool, a high-tech gym complex and a range of massage and beauty treatments. The hotel also has a restaurant with the most exclusive view, to spot who is jetting in to the capital. All day dining with traditional English and modern European dishes is available in the elegant Patrisey Restaurant (an Anglo-Saxon name for Battersea) – whether guests fancy poached eggs or rump steak for breakfast or dinner, they can enjoy their delicious, high-quality dishes at any time of the day. In summer months, guests can also enjoy views of the Thames from the al fresco terrace area. The Vertilon bar and lounge on the mezzanine level is a glamorous, contemporary bar: perfect for meeting friends and family for afternoon tea, informal meetings, or after work drinks. As dusk falls, Champagne is the signature drink and guests can dine on tapas and tasty platters whilst admiring the view. Vertilon provides glamour, style, views and atmosphere, which together with great food, drink and company, makes it the ultimate London lounge bar.
The hotel's location, close to Chelsea Harbour, is a truly stunning modern area of the city, which provides magical views at night. It is also a great location for travelling in to the city. From Clapham Junction Station, about a 20-minute walk away, you can easily travel to Waterloo or Victoria Station, where you can catch the Gatwick Express Train to the airport. The Chelsea Harbour Bridge is nearby, and crossing over, you can explore the Chelsea Harbour Design Centre, for upmarket furnishings and then catch a bus, or go for a wander to the King's Road, one of London's best streets for shopping. It may not be quite as unique as it was in the 60s and 70s, when Mary Quant and Vivienne Westwood opened groundbreaking shops here, but it still has a great selection for the avid retail enthusiast. The hotel is well placed for any football fans who want to see Chelsea Football Club play at Stamford Bridge and from the King's Road, you can easily travel to Sloane Square, where you will find more exclusive shops and The Saatchi Art Gallery; Knightsbridge, where you will find Harrods, the legendary department store and Harvey Nichols, which offers a more laid back shopping experience; and South Kensington, where you will find the Victoria & Albert, Science and Natural History museums and the Royal Albert Hall. Staying on the river also has the added advantage of being able to enjoy a boat ride down the Thames, and Clapham Junction, just a short walk away, is renowned for its cafes and nightlife.
There may be hotels in slightly more convenient locations in London, but none where you may rub shoulders with people who have actually arrived fresh from a personal helicopter ride. The fabulous rooms, high-quality service and stunning river views, alongside some fantastic amenities might also make the odd taxi home at night seem like a very minor inconvenience. If you are staying here and you can afford to spend a little extra, the river view room will make your stay very special, so it is highly recommended.
