Wood Street stretches from Cheapside EC2 at its southern end, through Gresham Street EC2 and London Wall EC2, leading north into Fore Street EC2. The name Wood Street was derived from the many wood merchants that worked on this site in medieval times. Wood Street was popular with drapers, haberdashers and milliners from the mid 19th century well into the 20th century.
